We strongly believe in leaving it to nature, so we don't use any chemicals in our vineyard. Our native Italian vines grow up to 4 feet in height to gain more exposure to the sun. They're head-pruned and hand-picked, yielding exquisite quality and taste. We allow our wines to ferment naturally.

Our vines were brought to California in 1885 from Tuscany, Italy, making them some of the oldest Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines in the United States. We're located in the heart of Sonoma County, where long summer days and cool nights impart distinctive flavors with deep, complex aromas.

One might say that wine-making has always been in our family blood. Our founder, Giuseppe “Joe” Battaglini, was raised in Lucca, Italy, and remembered running through the vineyards of Tuscany as a child. That's where Joe learned the wine business from his grandfather, Giulio.
